Introduction to the holistic approach to healthcare

The holistic approach to health is the belief that well-being flows from the balance of the body, mind and spirit.  When the body, mind and spirit are in harmony and balance with each other we are said to exist in a state of homeostasis; something we should all aim for. A disruption in any one of these areas will often show up in the others.

For example: when one has a cold the symptoms will show up in many parts of the body resulting in congestion in the head, running nose and eyes, aching limbs, sore throat and coughing. In addition to that we are likely to be feeling rather sorry for ourselves and possibly helpless. So we see that the actions of a tiny virus extend outwards to touch all parts of the whole.

Restoring the balance between spirit, mind and body will stimulate natural self-healing processes and if that balance is maintained then we are likely to be healthier, happier and more content people.
